Text and styling
Styling rules (punctuation & capitalization)
chatFlow formats your dictation automatically: punctuation, capitalization, question marks, paragraphs. Behind it is a fixed set of rules with hidden switches — just tell Flo how you'd like a particular thing done differently, and he'll flip the matching rule.
Time format 12/24 hours
How times are written is set in the “Styling” tab under “Time format”: “Automatic” (default, follows the output language), “24-hour” or “12-hour (AM/PM)”.
Emoji trigger words
chatFlow can automatically add matching emojis at the end of a sentence. In the Styling tab, you set trigger words for each emoji, a frequency in percent and incompatible emojis (“Doesn't go with”); “Max Emojis” limits how many are added in total. When a trigger word comes up, the emoji is added with the probability you set. With long texts, emojis can also be sprinkled in between the sentences. Order matters: with several matches, the rows higher up win.
Dictionary (names & technical terms)
In the dictionary you enter: “when I say X, write Y”. That way names, brands and technical terms are always spelled correctly. You can also have entries created automatically from a correction in the history, and you can organize them in folders.
History
The history shows your recent dictations and outputs. You can search there (across spoken and output text) and edit entries; a correction can automatically create a dictionary entry. The history is stored encrypted.
Typing suggestions (autocomplete while typing)
chatFlow remembers what you type and suggests the rest next time — the suggestion appears as a gray box below the cursor, and Tab accepts it. Limits that apply from the start: it's OFF by default, it only runs in apps you explicitly allow (as icon tiles in the settings), password fields are always skipped, and everything stays on your computer. You can drag the box with the mouse to a fixed spot — that spot is remembered per app.
View and tidy up saved texts
The “Saved texts” window shows everything the typing suggestions have stored — most frequent first, with a search field. There you can delete or edit individual entries, merge duplicates or clear everything. The storage is a readable file in the chatFlow folder and can be deleted completely at any time.
Spelling and comma check
The typing suggestions come with a check for typos and commas. The icons in the “Saved texts” window decide what the check covers — including capitalization at the start of a sentence and “All lowercase”. The spell check itself doesn't change capitalization. Nothing is changed until you accept it. The comma check is off by default. If you turn it on in the “Saved texts” window, the language model in the cloud checks the commas; that costs credits, and the price is shown on the “Check” button. For this, the checked sentences go to the cloud — everything else stays on your computer.
