Load video/audio from a link (download)
chatFlow can load video or audio directly from a link (including YouTube, TikTok, Reddit, Instagram, Facebook, Twitch incl. clips, X) — as video (MP4) or as audio (WAV or MP3). To open it: in the Voice-Clone Studio via “Load from link” in the sidebar. Or by voice: copy the link and say the voice command — by default “MP3 download” or “video download”. These command words can be adjusted in the download window (comma-separated, like all voice commands in chatFlow). The address is taken from the clipboard, not from the spoken text. Purpose: getting material for training your own voice from your own podcast or video appearance.
Download: WAV or MP3?
In short: WAV = best quality (default, ideal for voice training), MP3 = smaller file for sharing. The audio in online videos is ALWAYS already lossy-compressed — there's no lossless original there. WAV packages exactly this best available audio track 1:1 without a second compression, so no additional artifacts are created. MP3 squeezes the already compressed audio a SECOND time; a higher MP3 bitrate (e.g. 320) does NOT make the audio better than the source, it only makes the file bigger. For training, every detail counts (highs, sibilants) — that's why WAV is the better choice there. Rule of thumb: for training and editing → WAV; for sharing or putting on your phone → MP3. The format has hardly any effect on processing speed.
Video download: why Firefox and a sign-in on Instagram?
Most of the time, chatFlow loads a video without any sign-in at all — on Instagram, too, this works in the vast majority of cases. Some videos, however, Instagram only hands out to signed-in visitors; then the download fails without a sign-in, and chatFlow asks for one. For this case, chatFlow uses your sign-in from Firefox — in our tests this worked most reliably with Firefox, which is why chatFlow offers Firefox for it and not Chrome or Safari. You sign in to Instagram in Firefox once. You do NOT need to keep Firefox open afterwards: it's enough to stay signed in there. If you sign out of Instagram in Firefox, exactly these videos stop working again until you sign in again. Do you HAVE to sign in? No — only if Instagram won't hand out a particular video otherwise.
